Managing a Credit Customer

A Credit Customer record extends an ordinary Customer with credit-specific information — risk tier, credit score, credit limit, KYC status, payment terms, and review dates. Think of it as the credit profile of an existing customer. It's where everything credit-related about that customer lives.

Before you start

The customer must already exist as an Customer (created by the Sales team). Credit is only granted to existing customers — new cash-only customers go to Sales first, then come to the credit team when they're ready for credit.

What the record holds

  • Risk tier — an A to D classification (A = lowest risk)
  • Credit limit — the current approved limit (synced from the approved Credit Limit document)
  • Payment terms — the agreed terms (e.g. Net 30), which flow down to the customer's invoices
  • KYC status — Pending, Verified, or Expired
  • Credit officer — the analyst responsible for this customer
  • Next review date — when the customer is due for a credit review

A note on email

A Credit Customer must have an email address before credit can be granted — it's needed for payment reminders and portal access. If a customer has no email, add it in the Contact Email field on the form; it saves through to the customer's contact record automatically.
